History and Successes

The Public Interest Alberta Environment Task Force collaborates on environmental events and campaigns province wide. Past examples have included submissions to Alberta's government consultations on tar sands royalties, climatologist Andrew Weaver's book tour of Alberta, and supporting province-wide education and action on the review of Alberta's water allocation framework.

Key successes:

• Numerous special events and tours, along with the associated media coverage and public debate, have served to raise the awareness of environmental issues in Alberta.
• Speaking tours by key thinkers on the environment: Vandana Shiva, Helen Caldicott
• Judy Rebick, Tony Clarke, Avi Lewis.
