Living Wage Campaign
- Alberta will have the lowest provincial minimum wage by November 1st, 2011.
- Workers who serve alcohol will be paid a lower minimum wage, only $9.05.
- There will not be a wage increase for servers until the minimum wage is $10.05 (years from now).
- One out of every 8 employed Albertans (234,200 people) make less than $12/hour.
- $12/hour is just below the poverty line for an individual working full time.
- A Living Wage would be much more than $12/hour for someone with children.

Public Interest Alberta developed these Living Wage Bills to help spread the word about the need for a Living Wage in Alberta.
These bills are not legal tender, but are to be used to change the not so tender minimum wage law!
Show your support for a living wage for all Albertans by including a Living Wage bill with your tip in restaurants and bars. Please contact us if you can help us distribute these bills.
"This is no way to live, by the time u pay rent/mortgage, electric, gas, phone, tv, aquaterra, that is ur hard earned 40 hours a week wages gone and u still need groceries not to mention there is then nothing left to have a life!!! Id like to see the likes of the government live off this, and many still make 8.80 an hour, something needs to change!!! Other countries has their people Leavin for this reason a lot, to get better opportunities elsewhere, do they want our economy to fall to the same fate??"

Work just to pay bills? How can people retire on wages as low as this? Alberta will have the lowest minimum wage by November 1, 2011. No wonder I am broke.
