Each year Public Interest Alberta hosts an advocacy conference addressing pressing public interest issues in Alberta. These conferences are essential opportunities to work with other individuals and organizations in developing public solutions that strengthen our communities and provide us with the tools to mobilize us into action to build a better Alberta for all.

Public Interest Alberta’s 12th annual advocacy conference, which takes place April 5 - 6, 2018, will explore such important topics as climate change, reconciliation, democracy, and tax revenue. Join activists and advocates from across the province as we come together with the aim of guiding Alberta on the road to greater fairness, justice, and equality.

The conference will also include workshops aimed at action to improve our public services, including the following areas:

  • child care
  • education
  • post-secondary education
  • seniors
  • health care
  • human services and poverty

Our keynote speaker is Alex Himelfarbformer Clerk of the Privy Council and editor of Tax is Not a Four-Letter Word. His keynote speech, titled "Rebalancing Power: Collective Action for the Common Good" will explore how we reassert the power of working people, provide economic security in a time of precarious work, and rebuild the collective action toolkit we will need to move these ideas forward.
